What is a Retcon?

Retcon means Retroactive Continuity.

A retcon is the alteration of facts or history stated in a piece of fiction. It can either be additional information or even an extreme change of information. Retcons commonly happen in comic books due the long history of characters especially those of mainstream brands. Retcons also happen on fictional materials that are episodic in nature, like Television shows, film sequels, video games, and even novels that are part of a series. In the case of comic books, issues are what we call the episodes.

Why Retcon? And… what’s with the Double N?

Well, retcons happen very frequently lately especially now that some comic brands rewrote the history of their universe after a major crossover event. Take for example DC, who solved most of their continuity issues with their latest effort called, Infinite Crisis. Also, most people don’t really know what’s going on with comic books right now, so everything they thought they knew about their favorite comic book character is now a retcon. Retcons can be good or bad but it really depends on the reader. We at Monthly Retconn neither support or dislike retcons. We just think that they are some things we can look back to and talk about it. The other N? oh, that’s just for kicks. You got a problem with that?

Green Latern Movie Script
posted by jepster2006

There have been rumors of a Green Lantern Movie Script written by the guy who voices Triumph the insult comic dog. I'm not sure why it was given to such a person, but Green Lantern is a big DC Franchise and I doubt this script will see the Silver Screen.

Based on the article the script revolves around Jud Plato. He gets the ring by joining a Fear Factor Contest and the ring chooses him for eating a raw coyote. That's just the beginning, since I couldn't bear reading the rest of it but just few glances at it. I'm not even a Green Lantern fan and what I've read is an insult to comic book fans in general. The Duck Dodgers parody was even better by a mile.

There are rumors of Jack Black being involved in writing the script but I can't believe it. Jack Black can be unfunny at times and if he is indeed involved in this, it's not funny at all. I like Jack Black, but this is too much. I hope that his involvement is truly untrue.

Here's a link of a "review" for the script:

awesome picture! its like DC doesnt even believe in their own heroes. Marvel seems to think every one of their characters is worthy of a movie, and DC doesnt think any of theirs are. green lantern could be so awesome, but movies like this, zoom, and my super ex-girlfriend only hurt the genre.

I guess the main problem is that WB owns DC or something. So whatever WB says, DC can't do shit about it...

WB has been milking DC from sometime now but the main problem is that they seem to treat thier properties as second class citizens...

Anyhoo, this Green Lantern thing has been going on for ages. It was originally report way back even before Batman Begins hit the big screen. I don't think this would push through. Although alot of actors did comment of this Green Lantern movie and several of them showed interest namely Michael Clark Duncan....still no one can really say for sure since no director or producer is currently attached.

Michael Clarke Duncan? How about P. Diddy?

Apparently this is a script from years ago, before Super Hero films started being taken seriously, and pulling in the big bucks. Dan Didio has said this script will not be used.

Well a comdey superhero movie has been made before and it did made some money although if done correctly it could generate serious cash.

But Green Lantern? I just don't think it could get enough laughs from a character like that....Batman on the other hand could.
